Cap
A cap is the limit on how many leads, deposits, or installs an advertiser will accept on an offer per day or over its total run. Once the cap is hit, the offer either stops paying or stops accepting traffic altogether.
How caps work in practice
Some networks auto-stop the redirect once a cap is reached, others keep accepting traffic but simply won't pay for anything past the limit — that distinction matters and is worth confirming upfront. Caps often reset daily, so an offer that closed in the evening frequently reopens the next morning.
Caps in PWA arbitrage
Sending traffic into a capped-out offer wastes budget at best and, at worst, strands users who already installed the PWA with nowhere left to convert. APEX's postback and S2S tracking give buyers real-time visibility into conversion status, making it possible to switch to a backup offer in time without losing the campaign that's already running.
FAQ
- What happens if traffic hits a capped offer?
- Depending on the network, either the traffic just isn't counted or paid, or the redirect stops working entirely. Either way, budget spent on that traffic is wasted.
- How do you know a cap is about to close?
- It's usually visible through the network's offer stats or an affiliate manager — a sudden drop in conversion volume often signals the limit is close. Experienced buyers keep a backup offer loaded in the campaign for exactly this situation.
