Moderation
Moderation is an ad platform's (Facebook, Google, TikTok, etc.) review of a creative, ad, or landing page against its policies before the ad is allowed to run. For several verticals — gambling, betting, dating — a direct offer simply won't pass review at all.
How the review works
The reviewer — often an automated system, sometimes a human — loads the landing page from its own IP and user agent, checks the content against the creative, and looks for prohibited claims. Anything that conflicts with policy gets the ad rejected or the account flagged.
Moderation and PWA arbitrage
A cloaked PWA is built to solve exactly this: the reviewer sees a safe, compliant page while a real user in the target geo sees the actual offer. APEX's built-in cloaking+anti-bot (bot/UA/datacenter/geo filters, IP-intel) identifies a reviewer from a combination of signals and never shows them the real page, cutting the risk of an account ban.
FAQ
- Can you run gambling or betting offers without cloaking?
- Technically yes, but most platforms reject those creatives and landing pages outright or ban the account after a handful of impressions — in practice, cloaking is close to mandatory in any geo where the vertical is policy-restricted.
- How do you know an account is under extra scrutiny?
- Indirect signs include a rising rejection rate, daily-spend caps, or requests for extra verification — the usual response is to tone down the creative and double-check the cloaking setup before launching anything new.
